As the Commissioner of Police, I consider it a privilege to serve the people of Coimbatore and all those who visit this marvelous city.
The City Police is a committed force and every member is known for their duty, discipline, efficiency and most important courtesy.
We are a strong and dedicated force of 2708 officers and men. There are about 300 home guards and traffic wardens, who are the men in uniform. My team’s commitment to the city is that we will always strive to make everyone safe and secure and will guide you in both good and bad times. The city is controlled by 15 police stations that are efficiently managed by our officers of Law and Order, Crime and Traffic.
Our primary concern is prevention of crime in the city that is addressed by our able Beat constables and Police mobile patrols. There are about 180 officers and men on night patrol duty every day. I am pleased to inform you that the crime rate in Coimbatore City is one of the least in our country, thanks to the tireless effort of our men in uniform. You can have a good night’s sleep as our personnel keep a vigil of your neighbourhood. But, all this is something we cannot do on our own without your cooperation. Effective policing does not stop with just the police. I request every citizen to immediately bring to my notice any untoward incident. Let’s join hands and fight the crime together.
Today, we face a real challenge in traffic regulation and enforcement in a city of about 18 lakh people. There are 9,58.564 registered motorized vehicles in Coimbatore. These vehicles along with other visiting vehicles make the existing road totally inadequate for free movement of vehicles. Constant digging of roads and other genuine obstructions often cause traffic jams. In spite of all these disadvantages, we are trying our best to make your travel smooth and accident free. Please obey traffic rules and wear helmet when you commute.
Our Station Reception officers will receive you in the police station and give you suitable guidance. The Station House Officer will promptly address your grievance. Alternately, you can also voice your grievance to the Asst. Commissioner or the Dy. Commissioner, if you do not seek justice in the respective police stations. You are also welcome to contact me directly or through this website about any issues or problems as and when they emerge.
I would like to thank you for your continued support to the police and let me reassure you that the Coimbatore City police are your friends. We are always at your service.
